Activities of the chapter
The chapter's work is built around a small number of recurring formats. Each one exists to keep clinical practice in Indore current, connected and open to scrutiny.
How the chapter meets through the year
-
Clinical meetings
The backbone of the chapter. Sessions on gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy that translate current evidence and guidelines into what a clinician should actually do in an Indore outpatient department or endoscopy suite.
-
Case based discussions
Instructive cases from local hospitals presented in full, with the reasoning exposed rather than the conclusion announced. Diagnostic dilemmas, unexpected outcomes and complications are as welcome as clean successes.
-
Endoscopy and imaging sessions
Focused work on endoscopic technique, therapeutic intervention, ERCP and EUS practice, and the cross sectional imaging that GI teams rely on. These sessions are aimed at both diagnostic accuracy and procedural safety.
-
Guest lectures and visiting faculty
Senior gastroenterologists and hepatologists invited to speak to the chapter, bringing perspective from other centres in India and, where possible, from abroad.
-
Annual chapter meeting
The principal academic gathering of the chapter year, combining lectures, case presentations and the chapter's own business, and bringing members together with invited faculty.
-
Public awareness activities
Community facing work on digestive and liver health, covering prevention, alarm symptoms, viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease and the case for timely screening in gastrointestinal cancers.

National academic activity through ISG
Members of the chapter also have access to the national academic programme of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology. ISG runs the annual ISGCON conference, structured programmes for young clinicians, and a set of national awards and orations recognising clinical and research contribution.
The chapter encourages members and trainees to submit abstracts, take part in national programmes, and bring what they learn back into local meetings.
